Stories 2021. For Good
The past year has been an extraordinary year, however we must keep our mind on a sustainable future.
As inspiration we will publish a monthly story with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), specifically the ones we at Mazars strive to include in our everyday life, to make a difference. We see these goals as beacons that inspire us to turn today’s challenges into tomorrow’s opportunities.
Mazars Community Day in Denmark
On 13th October 2021, we had the pleasure of hosting our yearly Community Day for all employees at Mazars in Denmark. The purpose was to learn how we can make a difference, how organisations contribute and raise awareness of sustainable initiatives for our staff. This is an add-on to our implemented Sustainability Foundation Courses, which all employees must complete as well.
October – Why is sustainability important to us?
In the previous months’ stories, we have addressed the SDGs, which Mazars has committed to. Now it is time to hear from our employees, what they find important in relation to sustainability and Mazars. Our employees are our main asset, and their visions and ideas are crucial for our sustainable journey. In the following we have interviewed four colleagues on their very interesting inputs.
September - SDG no. 16 “Peace, justice and strong institutions”
To promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels should always be a goal.
August - SDG no. 13 “Climate action”
It is imperative that we all play our part in fighting climate change and preserving the environment. It has become more and more obvious, just by observing the evolvement of our climate and reading the U.N. Climate Report published in August 2021 - that we need to act. Momentum is crucial!
July - SDG no. 12 “Responsible consumption and production”
This month’s SDG is easy to relate to as it affects everyone of us. We all contribute to the global consumption and therefore to production in one way or another.
June - SDG no. 9 “Industry, innovation and infrastructure”
Key for SDG no. 9 is to build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation. The potential result of having this particular SDG in your mindset is a dynamic and competitive advantage. To contribute to a better world by economic growth that will reduce unemployment and balance the work.
May - SDG no. 8 “Decent work and economic growth”
SDG no 8 refers to promoting ongoing, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.
April - SDG no. 5 “Gender equality”
This month we will look at the SDG number 5 “Gender equality”, a demanding and ambitious task that still lies ahead of companies. At Mazars in Denmark, we strongly believe that moving forward on this capital issue is not about finding ways for women to better fit into the current business model, but rather to rethink the model entirely, as to create inclusive places to work for all.
March - SDG no. 4 “Quality education”
There are 17 sustainable development goals (SDG) on our shared 2030 agenda. The agenda has been adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, to guarantee prosperity for people and the planet, today and in the future. The core of this agenda is the 17 SDGs. This month we share what SDG number 4 means to us.
February - SDG no. 3 “Good health and well-being”
At Mazars we believe in our employees and want to ensure that we hire, nurture, and develop the best talents and most relevant expertise for today and tomorrow. It becomes natural to have the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) “Good health and well-being” as a high priority and it is essential to long-term growth.
January - Sustainable Development Goals
We have chosen to focus on five major areas where we believe we can make a real difference; developing sustainable services to help organisations achieve responsible long-term growth, have integrity at the heart of everything we do, providing the best working conditions to our people in each and every one of our offices around the world, fighting climate change and reducing our carbon footprint, and engaging with our communities to create shared value.
